| VEIN TREATMENTS
Sclerotherapy was developed in the 1920’s for the treatment of spider veins (telangiectasias), small purple and red blood vessels. Spider veins are hereditary, and while most commonly found on the thigh or lower leg, can form virtually anywhere on the leg, from the uppermost region of the thigh to the ankle. Occasionally, spider veins will appear on the face. Sclerotherapy has proven to be a very popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure. A sclerosing solution is injected into the vein with a micro-needle. The solution causes the vein to turn white (blanch), and then gradually disappear. A typical treatment lasts from 30 minutes to an hour. Injection sclerotherapy can be an excellent alternative to surgery, provided the patient’s venous system is not affected. There is no down time and patient’s can immediately resume work and all normal activities, but the patient is advised to refrain from all vigorous activities for the first 24 hours. There is little, if any, discomfort and is a safe time-proven procedure. Complete correction is not expected on the first treatment. Only about 50 to 70% of the treated vessels will be permanently gone. Three to four treatments are generally required for optimal results. If there is an underlying problem with the venous system, the veins will recur.
Multi-Spot™ Nd:YAG laser technology, clinically proven, for the effective and advanced treatment of leg veins and deeper vascular lesions including telangiectasias and hemangiomas. The treatment is fast and virtually pain-free, and is a minimally invasive therapy with no needles and no compression wrapping.
VNUS Closure – A minimally invasive treatment alternative to vein stripping.
Do you suffer from swelling, pain, and varicose veins associated with superficial venous insufficiency? This condition develops when the valves of your leg veins become damaged or diseased. Now, instead of vein stripping, patients can be treated with the Closure R procedure – a minimally invasive alternative to painful vein stripping surgery.
We perform the Closure procedure on an outpatient basis using local anesthesia (and mild sedation, if needed). After the Closure procedure, patients typically resume normal activities within a day, and can expect good relief of symptoms, cosmetically pleasing outcome with minimal or no scarring, bruising or swelling.
